The free medical-surgical services of the city government of San Carlos, in partnership with the 79th Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion of the Philippine Army, continued May 1 in barangays Prosperidad and Nataban.

At least 107 individuals availed of free circumcision procedures, while 266 underwent tooth extractions, and 36 received free haircuts. Medical volunteers from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) and PNP San Carlos assisted during the outreach mission, the city said in a press release.

City Hospital administrative officer Charlene Pol Anlap said the operation has been running smoothly, noting that thorough planning and coordination have strengthened the team’s preparedness and allowed them to serve more residents efficiently.

She also clarified concerns regarding tooth extraction schedules, explaining that inclusion in the list does not guarantee immediate service since the activity strictly follows a first-come, first-served policy.

Anlap added that residents who were not accommodated during the scheduled operations may still proceed to the City Hospital to avail of tooth extraction services.

Myrna Purisima, a resident of Sitio Binone, Barangay Nataban, said she was thankful after her 11-year-old son availed of the free circumcision service, saying that the assistance helped ease their financial burden as procedures in private clinics can be costly.

She shared that this was already her second time benefiting from the government’s free medical-surgical services, and she remains hopeful that they will again be able to avail of various assistance in the future.

The medical-surgical team is set to continue its outreach in the upland barangays of Quezon and Codcod today, May 4. ||
