The Negros Oriental provincial government will operate under a skeletal force until Friday (Nov. 27) after a 53-year-old male employee tested positive for COVID-19.

In an office order, Gov. Roel Degamo said that lowering the number of workers at the Capitol will prevent the spread of the virus within the provincial government offices.

The employee, who tested positive for the virus, had mild symptoms of the disease and is now admitted in an isolation facility of the province.

But while most of the offices in Capitol will have skeletal force, Degamo said those offering frontline services and Emergency Response Operation will render full-time office duty.

The governor stressed that government transactions should not be hampered.

Provincial Information Officer Bimbo Miraflor said they also strengthened the protocols for all visitors entering the Capitol premises, advising the public to follow the minimum health standard when transacting business inside the building.

As of Wednesday (Nov 25) Negros Oriental registered 598 COVID-19 cases with 114 active and 17 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic. – MML
