More than 20 members of the Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) Enforcement Team got vaccinated against tetanus July 6, as part of a health initiative to protect personnel frequently exposed to injury risks during clearing operations.

The vaccinations, administered by the City Health Office at the Bacolod City Government Center, underscored Mayor Greg Gasataya administration’s push to prioritize the safety of frontline workers.

CLO Enforcement Team head Reuben Mikhail Sabig said the tetanus doses complement existing protective measures, such as gear distribution.

“Personnel safety and welfare are absolutely our priority as we carry out our daily responsibilities. Reducing infection risks ensures that our team can perform critical tasks confidently,” Sabig stressed in a city press release Aug. 7.

Dodie Moore Bronca, a team member vaccinated Wednesday, recounted a prior incident where he stepped on a nail during a demolition operation.

“I felt anxious afterward, but today, I’m grateful. Knowing the government supports us makes me feel protected,” Bronca said.

The team earlier dismantled an illegal shanty obstructing the sidewalk fronting Lacson Street’s newly-opened Cancer Care Center. The operation aims to improve public access to the facility, which provides specialized care for patients across Negros Occidental.

Sabig added that the ongoing health protocols and infrastructure enforcement align with the city’s “holistic approach to civic safety and order.” ||
