Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson assured patients of the hemodialysis center at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City that it will reopen in two weeks.
Patients earlier expressed alarm on the closure of the facility, after the service provider reportedly left without any explanation.
Lacson said they will tap the service provider of Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City and Cadiz District Hospital in Cadiz City to put up a new filtration system at the La Carlota City hospital.
“At the minimum, it will take two weeks,” the governor said.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrandio Diaz II earlier said the provincial government cannot allow the resumption of the interrupted service until the facility is cleaned and made safe for patients.
In the meantime, Lacson said the provincial government will assist dialysis patients for their transfer and transport to other hemodialysis centers in government hospitals. | GB
