The city government of Cadiz hailed the Philippine Normal University – Visayas (PNU-V) performance and two topnotchers in the March 2025 teachers’ exams, with results released by the Professional Regulation Commission May 23.
PNU-V was named among schools in the country that ranked number one with a 100 percent passing rate in the secondary level.
All its 133 examinees passed.

It tied with three of its sister schools – PNU-Manila, North Luzon, and Mindanao – in the top spot.
The 57-year-old state-run university in Cadiz also produced two topnotchers: Jacob Facultad and Roxanne Ricaplaza.
Facultad, a San Carlos native, ranked fourth with a 93.20 percent weighted average while Cadiz’s lass Ricaplaza got a 92.60 percent rating.
PNU-V also topped a similar teachers’ exams with a 100 percent passing rate in the elementary level in September.
Its alumna, Tessh Balaod, ranked eighth among the topnotchers.
Ralger Jocson, executive director of PNU-V, expressed elation with the results of the March teachers’ exams.
He said that PNU-V is true to its commitment of producing quality teachers.
From entrance exam to interview, PNU-V is so strict in choosing qualified applicants for education courses.
“The entrance exam and interview for incoming freshmen are really competitive. We see to it that anyone who will be qualified to enter PNU-V is the best and brightest,” Jocson said in a press release May 25.
The education curriculum at PNU-V is also designed to make every student be teacher-ready, he added.
Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. commended PNU-V for an astonishing performance in the latest Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers.
“Being one among the top performing schools across the country, and having two topnotchers are splendid proofs that, indeed, Cadiz is really a bastion for quality education,” he said.
Since its founding in Cadiz on July 15, 1968, PNU-V has never failed to amaze Cadizeños in producing quality teachers, not just for Negros but even for the entire country, Escalante said.
“My salutation, hence, to the men and women behind PNU-V for making every Cadizeño proud of our institution, serving as molder or producer of the best teachers,” the mayor added. ||
