A member of the Philippine Army is now in hot water after he allegedly tried to kill his commanding officer at Camp Gen. Leandro L. Fullon in San Jose, Antique on Jan. 10.

The suspect, Cpl. Rey Gualberto Jr., is now detained at the police custodian facility in Antique.

Initial investigation of San Jose Municipal Police Station showed that Gualberto shot Maj. Rodillo Famulag, of Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City, several times, hitting in his left hand.

Gualberto fled afterwards, but later surrendered to the Antique Police Provincial Office, which endorsed him to the San Jose Municipal Police Station for detention.

The shooting incident took place after he was instructed by Famulag, commander of the 602nd Community Defense Center of the 6th Regional Community Defense Group, Philippine Army Reserve Command, to perform physical exercises.

Famulag said that Gualberto underwent inquest proceedings for the attempted murder case. | GB
