The first-ever replica of Jesus Nazareno has arrived in Bacolod City Nov. 11, straight from Quiapo in Manila, and will be enshrined at the Queen of Peace Parish (QPP)-Redemptorist on Nov. 15.
QPP-Redemptorist rector and parish priest, Fr. Mitchel Guadalupe, and parochial vicar, Rev. Fr. Dave Ryan Treyes, welcomed the sacred image together with some parishioners, and six Hijos del Nazareno from Quiapo Church, who serve as caretakers and stewards of the image of the Black Nazarene.
Guadalupe, in a video message posted on the QPP-Redemptorist FB page, invites everyone to join the triduum mass every 5:30 p.m., from Nov. 12-14, at the Redemptorist Church in preparation for the enshrinement.
He said that after a special blessing at the San Sebastian Cathedral at 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 12, the sacred image will have a caravan tour to visit the Our Lady of Victory-Victorias City, St. Joseph the Worker-Sarabia, San Diego-Silay City, Our Lady of Lourdes in Brgy. Bata, then back to the QPP-Redemptorist for the first triduum mass.
The following day, the Nazareno’s vicariate visits will include the San Juan Nepomuceno in Sum-ag, St. John the Baptist in Bago City, St. Mary Magdalene in Hinigaran, Our Lady of Peace in La Carlota, Immaculate Conception in Murcia, and the Triumph of the Holy Cross in Estefania, then back to QPP-Redemptorist for Day 2 of the triduum mass.
Rev. Fr. Rufino Sescon Jr., rector and parish priest of Quiapo Church, will lead a special talk after the mass on Nov. 14. “We’re honored to have (Sescon) joining us for a special talk, sharing deep insights and reflections on the Nazareno’s journey and significance.”
The “Hatid Nazareno” journey to Bacolod will culminate with the enshrinement of the sacred image at his new home at the Diocesan Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help and San Lorenzo Ruiz, QPP-Redemptorist, with the 5:30 p.m. Holy Mass to be presided by Sescon.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for our diocese, a joyful new chapter of devotion. Spread the word, bring your friends and family, and let’s come together in faith and joy!” the QPP-Redemptorist said. | CGC
