P6.8-M in ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod

Within a period of four hours, policemen confiscated P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu from three drug suspects in Bacolod City.

On Oct. 13, the first buy-bust operation at about 9:30 p.m. in Purok Hollowblocks, Barangay Singcang- Airport led to the confiscation of about half a kilo of shabu, with a market value of P3.4 million.

The arrested suspect was identified only as alias “Biboy”, 37, of Capitol Heights Subdivision, Barangay Villamonte.

The operation was conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Police Station 8 and assisted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU).

It was followed by another buy-bust at about 1 a.m. of Oct. 14 in Purok Rose, Barangay 9, where two more drug suspects, including a 60-year-old woman and a pedicab driver, were arrested by Police Station 2 operatives, assisted also by CDEU personnel.

A certain “Beth” and “Pet” yielded an additional half a kilo of suspected shabu also worth P3.4 million.

In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, lauded the accomplishments of the BCPO under the leadership of PCol. Joeresty Coronica, who further intensified the campaign to prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs in the ongoing MassKara Festival.

Also on Oct. 13, the apprehension of another suspected drug peddler at Zone 5 in Barangay Mambulac, Silay City yielded 14 grams of suspected shabu valued at P95,200.

Two other drug suspects were also arrested by the police at Zone 4 in Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City which led to the recovery of dried marijuana leaves and shabu worth P8,000. | GB
