The Negros Occidental provincial government has distributed a total of P1.943 million in financial assistance to 330 beneficiaries under its employment and livelihood support programs aimed at providing temporary work opportunities and financial assistance to qualified Negrenses.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson led the ceremonial distribution of assistance at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City on Aug. 6, in the presence of Overseas Filipino Workers Negros Occidental Federation Inc. president Sally Barrios and Provincial Public Employment Services Office head Karen Dinsay.
The amount of P1.38 million represents the provincial government’s 60-percent counterpart for 180 beneficiaries under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) while P562,500 was allocated for 150 beneficiaries under the Cash-for-Work Program.
Under SPES, each beneficiary received P639.14 per day for eight hours of work over 20 days, equivalent to P12,782.80 per beneficiary.
The program is implemented in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment, which provides the remaining 40-percent share amounting to P5,113.20 per beneficiary.
The 180 SPES beneficiaries are students from the municipalities of Hinoba-an, E.B. Magalona, Valladolid, Hinigaran, San Enrique, Candoni, Isabela, Ilog, Manapla, Moises Padilla, Cauayan, and Calatrava, who rendered service in their respective local government units (LGUs).
Meanwhile, the Cash-for-Work Program extended assistance to 150 beneficiaries also from various LGUs across the province.
Each beneficiary received P250 per day for four hours of work over 15 days for a total assistance of P3,750.
The beneficiaries are from the cities of Bago, Himamaylan, Sagay, San Carlos, Silay, Victorias, Cadiz, Escalante, Kabankalan, and Talisay as well as the municipalities of Hinigaran, Moises Padilla, Murcia, Pontevedra, Binalbagan, E.B. Magalona, and Ilog. ||
