An alleged finance and logistics officer of the New People’s Army (NPA), who is facing a string of frustrated murder charges, was arrested in Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Feb. 6.

The arrest of Elmer Quillano, with aliases Digoy and Onie, of the dismantled Central Negros Sentro De Grabidad platoon, was a result of the joint law enforcement and support operation conducted by troops of the Himamaylan City Police Station and the Philippine Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion (IB).

Quillano has an arrest warrant for seven counts of frustrated murder issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 55 Judge Walter Zorilla, who recommended a bail of P200,000 for each count.

Lt. Col. J-Jay Javines, public affairs chief of the 3rd Infantry Division, said that Quillano is the brother of Elbert Quillano, leader of the dismantled CN2 Sentro De Grabidad platoon, who died along with his wife Jessa, in an encounter with 94IB troopers in Sitio Alolong, Barangay Buenavista last year.

Last month, Army soldiers and policemen arrested Rey Vincies de Leon, alias Art, another remnant of the dismantled CN2 guerilla front, also for frustrated murder. | GB
