3rd Negrense nat’l dancesport championship held in Valencia

The 3rd Negrense dancesport championship and the 1st Dumaguete International Open were held at the Uypitching Multi-Purpose Hall in Valencia town, Negros Oriental recently.

These dancesports events were organized by the Dumaguete City Dancesports Team Inc., in partnership with the local government unit of Dumaguete as part of the 76th Charter anniversary of the City.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo commended the winners and participants for showcasing their excellent skills and artistry during the whole day event, attended by former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson, Guihulngan City Mayor Filomeno Reyes, Atty. Dio Remollo, assistant city administrator Dr. Dinno Depositario, and City Tourism Office OIC Katherine Therese Aguilar, among others.

Top professional and amateur dancers from across the country and overseas competed in the Latin and Standard categories.

Current World Champions Marius Andrei Balan and Kristina Moshenska also performed their routine, much to the delight of the participants and spectators.

Aside from the competitions, the participants also attended workshops, exhibitions, and social dances to enrich their experience while in Dumaguete.

Meanwhile, 14 pairs from different parts of the country competed in the Third Kind Dancesport Championship at the Pantawan People’s Park Friday evening, the city said.

Remollo extended his congratulations to the couples, who performed and showcased their best dance skills in samba (solo), cha-cha (derby), rumba (solo), and jive (derby) earning them the adulation of the crowd.

The organizers said the Third Kind Dancesport Championship was an open competition that proudly showcased male dance partnerships competing in the dynamic and passionate world of Latin dance. ||
