3 killed in Manapla, San Carlos

A laborer and a fisherman were among the three fatalities in violence-related incidents on Nov. 24 and 25 in Negros Occidental.

Two of the suspects have remained unidentified as of press time, according to the police.

The cadaver of a laborer, whose identity was withheld by the police, was discovered Friday inside a sugarcane plantation at Hacienda Quinaroyan in Barangay San Pablo, Manapla.

The 34-year-old victim, as reported by the Manapla police, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds

Police investigators recovered three fired cartridges of caliber .45 pistol, and a cellphone at the scene of incident.

A 57-year-old fisherman, who was not named by the police, was declared dead on arrival at the San Carlos City Hospital, after he was hit with a hard object at the back of his head on Nov. 24.

The victim was reported to have been sleeping in a nipa hut at Sipaway Island in San Carlos City, when the suspect, who was arrested by the police during a follow-up operation, hit him with a hard object.

A resident of Passi City in Iloilo province, who tried to pacify a commotion at Sitio Ipil-ipil, Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, was also stabbed dead by still unidentified assailant on Nov. 25.

The 40-year old victim, whose identity was also withheld by the police, succumbed to stab wounds in the chest and left abdomen.

He was declared dead upon arrival at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, according to the police.

Heated altercations also led to the stabbing of a 29-year-old person at PLDT Baybay in Barangay Mambulac, Silay City.

The suspect, 48, of Barangay 20, Victorias City, fled while the victim is being treated of his injuries at a public hospital in Silay City. | GB
