3 from Negros grand winners in Pagcor’s photo competition

Three entries from Negros Island were grand winners in this year’s photography competition of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.

Ruel Coloso received P100,000 in cash prize for his “Isang Araw sa Buhay ng Mangangalakal ng Talaba” entry, shot in Purok Gemora Semitic Labugon, Barangay 1, in Ilog, Negros Occidental.

He was one of the eight grand prize winners in the conventional category honored by Pagcor during the awarding ceremony at its office in Pasay recently.

The “Catching Crabs” entry of Wilfredo Lumagbas Jr., shot in Magsungay, Bacolod City, won P50,000 in cash in the mobile category.
This drone shot, titled “Sunset Symphony”, of Jeash Coven Mizpah Del Artajo in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, was also a grand winner in the drone category.

The “Catching Crabs” entry of Wilfredo Lumagbas Jr., shot in Magsungay, Bacolod City, won in the mobile category.

A drone shot titled “Sunset Symphony” of Jeash Coven Mizpah Del Artajo in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, was also a grand winner in said category.

Each grand winner in the conventional category received P100,000, while the 16 grand winners from the mobile and drone categories took home P50,000 each, Pagcor said.

The eight consolation prize winners in the conventional category received P35,000 each, while the 16 grand finalists in the mobile and drone groups were awarded P20,000.

With the theme “Harvest Time”, this year’s photo competition showcased the rich creativity and insight into the agricultural resources of the Philippines and the hard work of Filipino farmers, growers, and fishermen.

Pagcor president and chief operating officer Wilma Eisma, who graced the awarding ceremony, underscored the competition’s significance in recognizing the exceptional talent of Filipino photographers.

“I am grateful to be in a company that promotes art and Filipino culture while recognizing the talent of Filipino photographers,” she said in a statement. “This competition puts Pagcor on the map as a staunch supporter of culture and the arts.”

Eisma added that entries for this year’s competition are not only exceptional; they also captured the beauty and essence of the harvest season in Philippine countryside.

The 24 grand winners were among the nearly 4,000 entries nationwide, and stood out for their originality and visual impact.
