1st Sandurot Hari at Reyna crowned

Christian Kyle Gabisan of Junob National High School (JNHS) and Angel Hyacinth Miquiabas of RTPM-Dumaguete Science High School were crowned as the first-ever Sandurot Hari at Reyna 2024, in a grand pageant held at Pantawan People’s Park in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Sept. 25.

Anne Belle Lange of JNHS and Charlie Kim of RTPM were first runners-up while the pair from Dumaguete City National High School, Seth Omictin and Jeary Mae Amor, won as second runners-up.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo congratulated all the winners for their well-deserved victory and commended the other candidates, representing Taclobo NHS, Camanjac NHS, Piapi NHS, and Herminigilda F. Gloria NHS for showcasing the best that their schools can offer, in line with thbe ongoing Sandurot Festival celebration, the city said.

Miquiabas also won as Miss Social Media, Miss Smart Texters’ Choice, Best Speaker, and Best in Entourage; Lange was Best in Festival Costume, Best in Street Wear, and Best in Evening Gown; and Chloie Kristine Amper of PNHS was Most Photogenic and Best in Runway Challenge.

Gabisan won as Best in Street Wear and Best in Formal Barong; Omictin was Most Photogenic, Mister Social Media, and Best in Festival Costume; Kim awarded as Mister Smart Texter Choice and Best in Entourage; and Jovan Paul Ponce of PNHS won as Best Speaker and Best in Runway Challenge.

The other candidates were Carlos Emmanuel Jandog and Joyce Ann Alcancia of CNHS, Ace Nathaniel Ganaganag and Angela Gumahad of TNHS, and Zaijan Melon and Marchilla Doing of HFGMHS.

The judges included reigning Miss Dumaguete Diamond Jubilee Queen Mikaela Dy, Dr. Carlou Bernaldez, and Dr. King Conseng. They evaluated the candidates based on entourage, including quality of production, mastery, visual impact and quality of movements, at 60 percent; beauty and face at 20 percent; and intelligence at 20 percent.

A large crowd of passionate supporters watched the coronation, as well as Councilor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, Atty. Dio Remollo, assistant schools’ division superintendent Dr. Edmark Ian Cabio, DepEd School Governance Operations chief Dr. Antonieta Vendiola, SK President Miguel Aseniero, former councilor Renz Macion, and former Piapi punong barangay Clark Labi, among others. ||
