The Police Regional Office 6 security preparations are in place for the opening of classes on Monday, Aug. 22.

PRO6 regional director, P/Brigadier General Leo Francisco said that all unit commanders were given orders to ensure the safe and orderly opening of classes in Western Visayas.

“I already gave instruction to all unit commanders to ensure that everyone is safe and the resumption of face-to face classes is peaceful,” he added.

Law enforcement operations will be intensified to prevent the occurrence of crimes or for lawless elements to launch their evil plans,” Francisco said in a PRO6 statement Friday, adding the command will maximize the deployment of personnel in strategic areas, such as terminals, transportation hubs, vicinities of the schools, and main thoroughfares.

“There will be established police assistance desks, mobile, foot and detective patrollers in these areas,” Francisco added.

Close coordination with the school authorities and local government units will be also made. The Traffic Enforcement Units of LGUs will be tapped to help the police in manning the traffic to ensure the smooth movement and flow of vehicles.

The barangay officials, tanods, and other force multipliers will also be utilized to assist the police in the maintenance of peace and order, and to ensure public safety in their respective barangays.

“They are our active partners and, surely, we can accomplish more as we collaborate our efforts with them. Rest assured that your police in the region are being proactive and committed to do the best to ensure that the opening of classes is orderly and peaceful,” Francisco stressed. ||
