Police have launched a thorough investigation after students discovered a live ammunition round and handwritten notes inside the Senior High School Building of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) in Bacolod City July 16.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has been requested to examine the recovered ammunition and the accompanying notes.
“Basically, the students recovered two bullets which were reportedly found around 10 in the morning and turned over, and then at around 11 a.m., the university’s chief security officer called the police,” BCPO director. P/Col. Eugene Rebadomia, said.

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region said there is no confirmed threat, as of press time, beyond the discovery of the items.
“We assure the public that a thorough investigation is underway, and we encourage everyone to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and continue reporting any suspicious objects or activities to the nearest police station, or through SAFE NIR Dial 911,” PRO-NIR director, P/Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, said.
Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya also said they are in constant coordination with the Philippine National Police to ensure the safety of students and faculty members, and the security of the university.
“The city government treats all security matters with the highest level of gravity, and maintains an absolute commitment to the safety of educational institutions,” Gasataya stressed in a statement.
UNO-R is the latest school in Bacolod to receive security threats this month, after the University of St. La Salle and Luisa Medel National High School. | TMD
