SP commends Bacolodnon swimmer for AOSI medal

Juancho Mikhael Jamon, 8, a Grade 3 student at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod, was commended Aug. 28 by the Sangguniang Panlungsod for winning the bronze medal in the Asian Open Schools Invitational (AOSI) swimming championships, held in Bangkok, Thailand, Aug. 17-18.

The AOSI swimming championships was participated in by over 600 swimmers from 14 Asian countries, and Jamon, of Barangay 38, Bacolod, and son of former Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president Christine Angelie Matus Espinosa, won the bronze in Event 238, Heat #2 in the 6, 7, and 8 age group, the resolution of commendation said.

“This achievement of Jamon is an inspiration to other young and aspiring athletes of Bacolod City,” said Councilor Em Ang, who authored the resolution approved by the SP during its regular session this afternoon, adding that the young swimmer has competed and won awards in competitions held locally and abroad.

The SP has always been recognizing outstanding Bacolodnons in the field of sports, and the city joins Jamon and his family in celebrating his achievement, the resolution added. | CGC
