Several sets of impressive clothing and pieces of accessories made by outstanding local designers that were worn and paraded by their elegant and graceful models hogged the limelight during the “Sinina Sandurot: Lumad Tang Disenyo” fashion show held at the Pantawan People’s Park in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental the other night.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo commended the passion, talent, and creativity of renowned fashion designers Salvador Jocson Jr., Michael Ding Patrimonio, Glieh Pada, Anthony Sinco, and Daniel “Ting-ting” Delfin, adding these will inspire the young to harness their talents, follow their own dreams, and celebrate self-expression.

Former councilor Renz Macion, assistant city administrator Dinno Depositario, and former Piapi punong barangay Clark Labi joined Remollo in giving recognition to the participating fashion designers in both the fashion show and the Sinina Sandurot costume competition.

The master of ceremony described Jocson’s collection as “focused on elegance, bold silhouettes and radiant fabrics in Brillio capturing the essence of timeless beauty and confidence from within,” the city said in a press release.

Patrimonio’s showcase “is one-of-a-kind ‘concoctions’ of artistry in the fashion industry that involves styles of clothing and appearance, where trends are constantly created but still captures the classic and timeless essence of a Dumagueteña.”

Meanwhile, Pada’s collection “used repurposed materials, all merged to create breathtaking masterpieces, which perfectly blend innovation, resourcefulness and artistic vision.”

Sinco’s creations were a contemporary take on African heritage and beauty – a true testament to the allure of cultural diversity and inclusivity.

Delfin’s fashion collection is a tribute and an allegory of Dumaguete, a visualization of the historical past, to objects we grew familiar with; things commonly seen in the surroundings were the vital inspiration of this fashion narrative, an amalgamation of fashion as art and art as fashion, the city said.

At the conclusion of the show, Remollo awarded the top three winners of the Sinina Sandurot costume competition, with Edgar Re-an Filosofo as champion, Jude Earl Tunog in second place, and Michael Cuizon in third spot.

Certificates of appreciation were also received by participating artists Jessie James Aguilar, Jules Randulf Gadingan, CJ James Rebusa, Dante Francisco, Teotimo Navarro, Stephen Intong, and Ray Cabajon. ||
