The assistance of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat was sought by Mayor Mark Golez for a tourism development plan in Barangays Patag and Guimbalaon, which are among the prime tourist destinations in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

In August last year, the city government ordered the closure of all establishments in the two villages for operating without business permits, among others, inside a protected area.

Golez said that he furnished Puyat, who visited Negros Occidental yesterday, with the Patag-Guimbalaon development plan for possible assistance, which is also aimed at regulating activities and promoting the tourism destination areas.

The Patag-Guimbalaon Development Authority was created by the city government of Silay to assist the Protected Area Management Board on the regulation of illegal structures at the Northern Negros Natural Park.

Golez also said that the PAMB gave approval to the resumption of operations of mountain resorts, coffee shops and lodging houses, among others, which are now being reviewed.

The city government also required owners of the establishments to submit their respective development plans that include the structural design, drainage plan and other similar plans and designs. – GB
