The fourth edition of the Bacolod Rum Festival will be held on Aug. 10-18, to be highlighted by a street dance parade and competition on Aug. 17, and the organizer has asked the city for traffic assistance and temporary road closure.

Festival organizer Ro-Charmaine Pahate, in her July 22 letter-request endorsed to the Sangguniang Panlungsod, said the motorcade featuring Tanduay brand ambassadors and other special guests, will start from Park Inn going to the assembly area of the street dance parade participants fronting the Philippine Statistics Authority Office at Diola Street along Circumferential Road.

“In addition to the motorcade participants, we’re expecting 400 to 500 participants in the parade, that will start from the assembly area at Diola Street going to the Bacolod Government Center (BGC) complex where the dance competition will be held,” Pahate said in her letter pending action from the SP.

She said the requested temporary closure of Diola Steet from 1-5 p.m. on Aug. 17 is to accommodate the street dance and parade participants, while the closure of lanes going to BGC from Diola Steet will be from 3-6 p.m., also on that day.

Tanduay Distillers Inc., in partnership with the city government of Bacolod, will hold the Rum Festival “to showcase Filipino ingenuity in the areas of culinary arts, pastry, mixology, visual art, dance, and music,” Pahate added. | CGC
