PSA holds provincewide census, CBMS training

In preparation for the city and municipal level roll out this July, the Philippine Statistics Authority recently conducted the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) provincial level training.

Led by the PSA Central Office, with the support of PSA Negros Occidental Field Office, the training equipped Census Area Supervisors (CAS) across the province with essential skills and program knowledge for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS survey.

The training was held June 17-22 at the PSA Negros Occidental Field Office in Bacolod City.

This was in preparation for the city and municipal training scheduled on July 1-6 for batch 1, and July 8-13 for batch 2.

Throughout the training, participants engaged in various lectures and practical exercises designed to enhance their competencies in program and tool utilization, data gathering, community engagement, and survey management.

The key topics covered included data validation procedures, census enumeration techniques, program navigation, and likely scenarios in carrying out the POPCEN-CBMS procedures.

Key speakers enriched the program with their expertise on the field and topics with chief statistical specialist John Campomanes delivering a comprehensive overview and insight of the program’s goals and key strategies for effective implementation.

Senior statistical specialist Jerome Cadayona shared practical strategies, methods, and program utilization for effective data collection along with other experts in implementing the most effective and efficient methods for preparing and equipping personnel on the field.

Participants also had the chance to exchange and share their challenges and experiences of previous surveys along with their takes and knowledge on the subject to create an environment that was effective towards learning together and growth. ||
