Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson requires all water refilling stations to post their Water Bacteriological Test results monthly, as part of precautionary measures against Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE), as most cases can be traced back to contaminated shallow wells.

Lacson said in the advisory that AGE is a preventable disease “that requires us to be precautious about the water we use, and practicing good sanitation and hygiene, in our immediate community”.

With strong encouragement from the Provincial Health Office, all water refilling stations will be required to post promptly their bacteriological test results, the governor said.

Lacson also advised the public to check test results to ensure that the water provider is following the prescribed rules and regulations on National Standards for Drinking Water.

AGE is only one of the many diseases that can be acquired through the consumption of unsafe drinking water, he stressed./GB
