Victorias City in Negros Occidental will host the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) on Tour on Aug. 22, headlined by the Capital1 Solar Spikers, Farm Fresh Foxies, Galeries Tower Highrisers, and Creamline Cool Smashers.
The PVL on Tour will bring professional volleyball action to the Victorias City Coliseum, offering Victoriasanons and visitors an opportunity to watch the four professional teams compete in the city.
The showdown serves as the final stop of the province-hopping roadshow that began in early July, the Grid Sports Athletic Inc. (GSA) said.
It aims to help showcase Victorias on a wider platform, promote local tourism through sports, and inspire local youth to pursue their athletic aspirations, GSA president Bea Tan said during the signing of the memorandum of agreement Aug. 12.
Under the agreement, the city government of Victorias will serve as primary host and local organizer, while GSA will act as the main contact, promoter, and local coordinator for the tour stop.
Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, who signed the MOA with Councilor Jappy Cuaycong, Tan, and event logistics lead Krissa Marie Palermo, expressed his gratitude to the organizers and congratulated the teams behind the event.
“This isn’t just about volleyball. It’s about showing what our city is capable of hosting, giving our local businesses a boost, and most importantly, giving our young athletes something to look up to and dream toward,” Bantug stressed in a statement.
Cuaycong, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism, also highlighted the partnership’s potential to position Victorias as a destination for sports and major entertainment events, generate economic opportunities, and strengthen local partnerships.
The MOA signing was also attended by Vice Mayor Derek Palanca, councilors Deilen Hofileña, Dino Acuña, Hermie Millan, Vincent Marie Roa, Juvy Pepello, Eric Alcobilla, and Trisha Mae Majan, city department heads, local partners, and event organizers. ||
