Further advancing disaster preparedness and reinforcing Bacolod City’s commitment to resilience and public safety, property giant Megaworld is allocating more than 2,000 square meters of land within its 34-hectare The Upper East township to the Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc. (BFCCCII) for the construction of the city’s P45-million two-story fire station.

The modern facility will rise at the corner of Burgos Street and Cornell Loop, and is expected to strengthen emergency response capabilities within The Upper East and nearby communities to further support Bacolod City’s continued growth and urban development.

Designed to serve as a vital hub for emergency and disaster response, the new fire station will feature ample space to accommodate around 20 emergency response vehicles, including fire trucks and ambulances.

Leading the signing ceremony for the construction of a two-storey fire station within Megaworld’s The Upper East township in Bacolod City were Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, president and chief executive officer of Megaworld (3rd from left), and Elbert Valencia, president of the Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (3rd from right).

The facility will also include a state-of-the-art operations command center, administrative offices, a lecture and training room, a receiving area, dedicated lockers, sleeping quarters, and comfort rooms for male and female personnel, an exercise area, kitchen, pantry, and storage and utility spaces.

A four-story drill tower will also rise within the complex, providing firefighters with a dedicated training facility to enhance operational readiness and emergency response skills.

“We believe that building sustainable townships also entails investing in infrastructure and essential services that enable communities to thrive, remain resilient, and stay protected,” Don Earl Caagbay, head of Estate Management, Megaworld, said in a statement June 17.

“This initiative, together with the BFCCCII, reflects our long-term commitment to creating safer and stronger communities in localities where we build our townships,” Caagbay added.

The project underscores the shared commitment of Megaworld and BFCCCII to help create safer, more resilient communities while supporting the city’s long-term development goals.

As it continues to transform into Bacolod’s modern and iconic central business district, Megaworld’s The Upper East has become a thriving destination for business, lifestyle, and investment.

The township is home to several themed residential developments, including the 26-story Kensington Sky Garden, Megaworld’s tallest residential tower in the Visayas. It also hosts Bacolod’s first LEED-certified office building – No. 1 Upper East Avenue – the country’s most beautiful McDonald’s store, and the Philippines’ biggest Landers Superstore.

Further elevating its stature is the upcoming 300-room The Kingsford, Megaworld’s pioneering hotel development in the Negros Island Region, which will introduce a host of first-in-Bacolod amenities and hospitality experiences.

This June, Megaworld celebrates its 37th year in the Philippine real estate industry as it continues to uplift lives, impact society, and help shape the nation through its 37 townships across the country spanning more than 7,000 hectares of land from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Today, Megaworld remains one of the Philippines’ biggest property giants with over 800 residential developments spread across the country, the largest office landlord with over 1.7 million square meters of office GLA, and the largest hotel operator in terms of room keys in the Philippines. ||
