Good news to member-consumers being served by the Central Negros Electric Cooperative.
Noceco said March 15 that its residential rate this billing month of March decreased by P2.1484 per kilowatt-hour, due to reduction in the total generation charge by P2.0290/kWh.
This means that Noceco MCOs will be paying P11.1567/kWh this month, from the P13.3051/kWh residential rate in February.
“The main factor in the decrease in generation charge is the P2.6134 per kWh reduction in the energy cost from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, from its previous power cost of P8.4735/kWh,” Noceco said in an advisory, adding that Palm Concepcion Power Corporation’s rate was also slashed, from P8.7774 to P8.5831/kWh this March.
But Noceco cautioned MCOs that, given the high heat index registered recently, it expects a significant increase in electricity consumption. “This surge in demand will likely translate to higher energy prices in the spot market, following the fundamental economic principle of supply and demand.”
It urged consumers to be aware of their energy consumption to avoid paying high electricity bill. “We also appeal to our MCOs’ understanding as we continue to find better solutions to mitigate the impact in electricity prices being experienced by the power industry.”
Noceco serves residents and businesses in Pulupandan, Valladolid, La Carlota City, San Enrique, Pontevedra, Hinigaran, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Binalbagan, Isabela, Himamaylan, Kabankalan, Ilog, Cauayan, Candoni, Sipalay, and Hinoba-an.
Last month, its residential rate increased by P1.0580/kWh, from the P12.2471/kWh rate in the first month of this year./CGC
