Negros to join simultaneous distribution of gov’t assistance

The provincial government of Negros Occidental will join the simultaneous nationwide distribution of comprehensive government assistance to more than 1,000 beneficiaries of the province, in line with the birthday celebration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. today, Sept. 13, at the Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod City.

Department of Labor and Employment Undersecretary Felipe Egargo Jr. will lead in the ceremonial distribution, together with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The DOLE will conduct a payout, worth P3,705,600, to 772 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) beneficiaries from Bacolod City and Cadiz City, and an orientation to 363 beneficiaries from Silay City.

The Department of Agriculture will also turn over machineries, such as 4WD tractor, combine harvester, and hand tractors, all worth of P9.2 million.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources will likewise turn over 30,000 fingerlings to 21 beneficiaries, five engines for motor boats, and two sets of pH kits.

The program proper will start at 9 a.m. and Lacson will give his welcome remarks, the Capitol said in a press release.

Marcos is expected to be simulcasted live at around 9:30 a.m. via Zoom.

The DOLE NOFO, headed by Carmela Abellar, in coordination with the Provincial PESO Office, will also conduct a job fair at the activity center of the Ayala Malls Capitol Central, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with 21 companies joining, while the Department of Trade and Industry will promote their services.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will distribute allowances to their 700 scholar-grantees and they will also conduct Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) enrolment.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP), meanwhile, has started selling their products at the Fiesta Market of Ayala Mall, and will culminate this afternoon. ||
