The number of show-cause orders issued by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to candidates for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in Negros Occidental has further risen to 144.
Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria confirmed the latest total number, saying the complaints against the candidates are still on premature campaigning such as posting in the social media and postering.
He added that some complained candidates, as reported by the Comelec in the national level, are now facing disqualification cases.
Ananoria said though he is not aware if some of those are candidates from Negros Occidental.
He further said that Comelec Chairman Erwin Garcia is adamant in enforcing the law against violators.
Added to the list of violators were candidates from Murcia and Binalbagan, eight each, and Bacolod City, two. | GB
