The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) has opened a satellite office in Isabela, Negros Occidental.
In a statement, DSWD-NIR said the satellite office is expected to significantly improve the delivery of its programs and services to more communities across the region.
The initiative aims to provide faster, closer, and more efficient government assistance, particularly for vulnerable sectors and individuals in crisis situations, it added.
Situated at the center of the fifth district of Negros Occidental, the DSWD-NIR satellite office is geographically accessible not only to Isabela residents, but also to neighboring local government units, including La Castellana, Binalbagan, Hinigaran, and Moises Padilla.
With the establishment of the facility, DSWD-NIR said residents from these areas will no longer need to frequently travel to Bacolod City for DSWD-related concerns, reducing travel time, transportation costs, and inconvenience for beneficiaries.
DSWD-NIR Director Arwin Razo, who led the recent blessing and inauguration of the satellite office, underscored the importance of strengthening the government’s presence in local communities through accessible frontline services.
He also emphasized that bringing DSWD closer to the people ensures that assistance is delivered in a more timely, compassionate, and responsive manner.
The realization of the project was made possible through the support and partnership of Fifth District Rep. Emilio Bernardino Yulo and Isabela Mayor Miguel Yulo, Razo said. | GB
