PCpl. Dennis de la Cruz Nacis, who was wounded in an ambush-encounter in Barangay Minapasuk, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last August, has received P50,000 in additional financial assistance from the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas (PRO-6).

The cash aid was personally turned over to Nacis by PBrig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, police regional director, at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City on Oct. 9.

In a statement, the PRO-6 said an amount of P190,000 has already been extended to Nacis, a member of the Calatrava Municipal Police Station, to cover his medical expenses.

The policeman will also receive an additional P50,000 from the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund Inc.

The ambush-encounter in Calatrava resulted to the death of PCpl. Jaime Cuevas Nuñez, and injuries of three other policemen, including Nacis, who responded to a shooting incident in Sitio Icogan, where two civilians had been killed by rebels.

The Philippine National Police has also extended financial assistance of P100,000 to the family of Nuñez, aside from other benefits, the PRO 6 said. | GB
