He was ill since the other week and died in his home at East Homes 2 Subdivision in Fortune Towne, Bacolod City, Sept. 15.

“Colleagues remember him (Galunan) as someone who is hard working and dedicated to his professions, both in the education sector and the community media, and for being a faithful and loyal family man,” Negros Press Club president Yves Montecillo said in a statement.

The 54-year-old Ubas, meanwhile, died while being treated in a hospital in Bacolod City, also on Sept. 15.

He was a veteran radio broadcaster, who carved his name in the radio broadcast industry as an anchorman of Bombo Radyo Bacolod and later, of Radyo Bandera Sweet FM Bacolod.

Montecillo said Ubas “was known for his straightforward reporting, and insightful and dynamic commentaries.”
