The Himamaylan city government is vying for its third Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), with the regional validation held June 13.
Mayor Raymund Tongson and heads of offices welcomed evaluators Jessana Carmela Tatoy and Ruth Geronda from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and Sybel Nobleza of the Association of Negros Producers.
Himamaylan received the SGLG for 2022 and 2023 after displaying exceptional management and quality public service.
“It has always been this administration’s thrust to provide exemplary public service for Himamaylanons,” Tongson said in a statement.
The city mayor said the SGLG is “a perfect way to validate the efforts and hard work of our LGU (local government unit), demonstrating our commitment to transparency, accountability, and the effective delivery of services to our community.”
He said the SGLG evaluation highlights the dedication of the city government to continuously improve and excel in local governance, and in the delivery of quality service.
Through the P7 million incentive fund from the 2022 SGLG award, the city government was able to upgrade its security and disaster risk reduction and management efforts with the purchase of four new rescue vehicles.
For 2023, the city received an SGLG incentive fund of P2.3 million. ||
