The Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol Building will be locked down for five days starting Monday, Jan. 24, as Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and 19 other employees tested positive for COVID-19.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said the temporary shutdown of operation at the Capitol was recommended by the Provincial Incident Management Team.
Lacson, who is on self-isolation after experiencing a sore throat, tested positive for the virus after undergoing a RT-PCR test today, Jan. 22. Diaz said the governor is resting and doing well.
Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer will temporarily assume as acting governor in the absence of Lacson, Diaz said.
He added that the temporary lockdown of the Capitol will prevent the spread of the virus in different offices. | MITCH LIPA
