Guns, ammo cache found in Kabankalan

A buried cache of weapons and medical supplies was discovered by joint military and police troops in Barangay Camansi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Feb. 19.

1Lt. Charmaine Sancho, civil-military operations officer of the Philippine Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion (IB), said on Monday that the discovery in Sitio Makilo came after civilians provided information to the troops.

The joint operation of the 47IB, 15th Infantry Battalion, and 604th Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Western Visayas resulted in the recovery of a caliber 357 Magnum revolver, a homemade 12-gauge shotgun with three ammunition, a fragmentation grenade, improvised explosive devices, 205 rounds of ammunition of M16 assault rifle, assorted medical supplies and subversive documents.

In a statement, Lt. Col. Magno Mapalad, 47IB commanding officer, lauded the bravery of residents in the area in providing them the information that led to the recovery of the cache of weapons and medical supplies. | GB
