Gov’t forces to strengthen legal offensive against NPA

The Regional Task Force in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict 6  is  strengthening its legal offensives against the New People’s Army in Negros and Panay, Army regional spokesperson Maj. Cenon Pancito, said.

Pancito said that the RTF-ELCAC 6, through its Legal Cooperation and Peace, Law Enforcement and Development Support unit organized the country’s first focused legal action team as part of its offensive against the Communist Party of the Philippines- New People’s Army.

“This project will hasten our anti-insurgency efforts particularly on the legal aspect”, he added.

Aklan Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Flosemer Chris Gonzales, chair of  the RTF-ELCAC 6, said in a statement issued by the 3rd Infantry Division Public Affairs Office , said that the CPP-NPA continuously make use of the country’s legal system to advance its goals to the detriment of the government.

Gonzales also noted  that allied groups of the rebel movement have been  active in providing immediate legal assistance to the arrested communist personalities, and in conducting fact finding mission to fabricate evidence and testimonies against government forces.

Pancito also said RTF-ELCAC 6 was able to gather 45 judicial affidavits of former rebels in Negros Occidental alone that will boost their legal offensives against NPA personalities.
