Two high-value drug targets were arrested and about 100 grams of suspected shabu, worth P680,000, confiscated during an early morning buy-bust operation in Purok Malinong, Barangay 39, Bacolod City Sept. 4.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said the two arrested are both unemployed residents of Purok Mahimulaton in Barangay Banago, Bacolod.
Bacolod Police Station 1 operatives conducted the operation following intelligence reports regarding the illegal drug distribution activities of the suspects across barangays 2, 3, 8, 10, 39, Banago, and Singcang-Airport.
The duo operated via a “kaliwaan” scheme, wherein the exchange of illegal drugs and cash occurred simultaneously, with transactions frequently facilitated through GCash, the PRO-NIR said.
Following casing, surveillance, and validation operations, supported by a confidential informant, police executed the buy-bust transaction that led to the arrest of the suspects, who are now detained at Police Station 1 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PRO-NIR director, P/Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, commended the operatives for the successful operation, and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eliminate illegal drugs and maintain a proactive, community-oriented policing across the region. | TMD
