Businessman and former Bacolod City councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan said he feels vindicated after Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año issued a certification that his name was removed from the inter-agency drug information database.

The clearance was pursuant to the recommendation, review and evaluation, through a memorandum dated July 31, and approved by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte, Tan said.

“This is justice in black and white,” he stressed, adding that this is proof that he is not, in any way, linked to illegal activities “here and elsewhere.”

The certification of Año dated Aug. 11, 2021, and received by Tan only last week, stated: “Ricardo Tan of Bacolod City has been removed from the list of the inter-agency drug information database”.

Former Bacolod City councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan held a press conference Oct. 23 to announce that Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año has issued a certification that his name was removed from the inter-agency drug information database.

Tan said he is thankful to Duterte and the members of the inter-agency for the objective review of his situation and for giving him the due process and revalidating all false accusations.

“The certification by the secretary, approved by the president of the country, is not just a paper but a symbol of freedom from all accusations against me and my family,” he stressed.

Tan reiterated that he has been a victim of false accusations and lies.

He denied leaving the country since this would only mean guilt, adding that he worked hard to clear his name.

The DILG certification means justice for him, and inspires him to continue serving the people of Bacolod.
