Philippine National Police officer-in-charge, P/Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr., announced the release of P7,321,377,087 allocated for the midyear bonus of some 222,787 PNP personnel, including those in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.

PNP Finance Service director, B/Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., said that PNP personnel will receive the bonus starting May 17 through their ATM Payroll Accounts enrolled with the Landbank of the Philippines.

The amount to be given to each personnel will be equivalent to a month base salary.

Pursuant to the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion law, any pay that will exceed P90,000 will be subjected to withholding tax.

“The dedicated funds are from the regular PNP appropriations itemized under the organization’s budget this year,” Danao said.

The mid-year bonus is given annually and is part of the PNP’s budget every year.

“This financial benefit is one of the many ways to recognize the dedication and hard work of our men and women at the PNP. While it is true that our service to the country is priceless, the government finds it fitting to provide its employees with incentives on top of their regular salaries,” Danao said.

Danao stressed that personnel who were found guilty of administrative and/or criminal cases by final and executory judgment for fiscal year 2022 shall not be entitled to the mid-year bonus.

The Police Regional Office 6, meanwhile, said it recorded 24 crime incidents in the May 9 polls, far lower compared to the elections in 2016 and 2019, with 125 and 62, respectively.

Only three incidents under the eight focus crimes were recorded, much lesser compared to 12 on May 13, 2019, and 26 on May 9, 2016, it added.

This can be attributed to the early preparations and focused executions of all involved agencies under the Regional Joint Security Control Center, anchored on the four Cs principle, namely Coordination, Collaboration, Cooperation, and Commitment.

P/Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, PRO 6 director, expressed his sincerest gratitude to the Commission on Elections, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Education, and other government agencies for committed efforts and sacrifices to ensure the secure, accurate, free and fair conduct of this year’s elections./NND
