The Bacolod City government has prohibited the entry of all live pigs, pork, and pork products from areas with confirmed African swine fever (ASF) cases.

Mayor Greg Gasataya, in Executive Order 046, series of 2026 signed into effect June 29, also directed the establishment of strict quarantine checkpoints at strategic entry and exit points to inspect the transport and shipment of swine and pork products.

Under the EO, any permitted transport of live pigs, pork, pork products, and swine by-products into, out of, and within the city must strictly comply with existing national laws and regulations.

No shipment will be allowed to pass without the required veterinary health certificate, shipping permit, meat inspection certificate, and other essential documentation, the EO said. “The sale or distribution of pork products originating from ASF-restricted areas without proper certification remains forbidden.”

Meanwhile, the enforcement of border controls and movement restrictions will be conducted by a coordinated task force composed of the City Veterinary Office, City Agriculture Office, Bacolod City Police Office, City Legal Office, and punong barangays.

“We are now finalizing the implementation of border control since the mayor already signed the executive order banning pork products from areas with confirmed ASF, or red zone category,” city administrator, Atty. Mark Steven Mayo, said.

He added that, as of press time, there are no confirmed cases or incidents of ASF in Bacolod. | TMD
