The organizer of the 17th Bacolaodiat Festival in Bacolod City has beautified the grounds and fountain of the Bacolod Government Center with Chinese lanterns, lotus and tiger statues to usher in the Lunar Year of the Water Tiger.Oddette Ong-Gomez, chair of the Bacolaodiat Inc., said in a statement, that “no matter how simple, yet we hope to draw meaning and inspiration that the celebration of the Chinese New Year and the 17th Bacoloadiat Festival is still alive, even without the usual flares”.
“Two years into the pandemic, and as the world aspires for the better normal, we at the Bacolaodiat Incorporated cannot let our spirit be dampened by these challenges. Thus, even as we remain sensitive to the times, and very much aware of the threat of the COVID-19 with its mutating variants affecting not just our beloved Bacolod City but the entire world, we bring you our meaningful display at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds,” she added.
She said she wishes that, like the Tiger, year 2022 will give people the strength in the calmness of their hearts to expel all the evils of the world, including this pandemic.
“As global citizens, let’s do our share in the healing process of mankind so much like the traits of the Tiger, courageous and assertive in times of adversities. Tigers are also natural leaders and so let’s be like the tiger in our communities and bring our flock towards health and economic survival,” Ong-Gomez added. — NND
