Capitol bulk water project investor forum set Aug. 9

There are now five companies that have expressed intention to join the P1.2 billion bulk water project of the Negros Occidental provincial government, under a Public-Private- Partnership scheme.

These companies are the Aboitiz InfraCapital, Suez Water Technologies, Manila Water, San Miguel Corp., and Genesis Water Technologies.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, July that the investor forum was moved from this month, to Aug. 9.

The local government units of Silay, Talisay, Victorias, and Manapla have expressed intent to avail themselves of water supply under the PPP project, while the Bacolod City Water District has yet to submit its intention to do so.

The Capitol bulk water supply project will tap the Malogo and Imbang rivers as surface water resources.

Under the PPP scheme, the provincial government will enter into a joint venture agreement with a private investor to fund the P1.2 billion project, with the Capitol allocating P100 million./GB
