The Bacolod Yuhum Village, an on-site housing flagship program of Mayor Alfredo Benitez for informal settlers of the city, is underway after a dialogue with the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD), led by Undersecretary Jose Ramon Aliling, at the Government Center Sept. 2.
Discussed were the housing relocation, profiling assessment and eligibility, the management of settlers, and recourse with Pag-IBIG for the regulation of beneficiaries, a press release from the city said.
Intended sites for the housing project include Purok Arao in Barangay Vista Alegre, and barangays Banago and 8.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod, during its regular session Aug. 31, approved a proposed resolution authorizing Benitez to sign a memorandum of understanding with DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar for housing projects for the benefit of informal settler families in Bacolod.
A ceremonial signing of MOU partnership between Bacolod and DHSUD is scheduled Sept. 3 at the BGC lobby, the city said.
DHSUD mandates a “continuing program of housing and urban development which shall make available at affordable cost, decent housing and basic services to underprivileged and homeless citizens in urban centers and resettlement areas”, as per Republic Act No. 11201, or the Department of Human Settlements and Urban.
The dialogue, meanwhile, was attended by councilors Vladimir Gonzalez, Jude Thaddeus Sayson, and Al Victor Espino, secretary to the mayor Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu, City Administrator Atty. Pacifico Maghari III, and the National Housing Authority. ||
