A farmer was shot dead outside his home in Purok 4, Sitio Gut-ac in Barangay Abaca, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, Wednesday evening, the police said July 9.
The Cauayan Municipal Police Station identified the victim as Cyrus Tajedar, 29, of the barangay.
Investigation showed that Tajedar was inside his house when five armed suspects arrived. When the victim stepped outside, one of the suspects pulled out a long firearm and opened fire, hitting him on different parts of his body.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. July 8, but was only reported to authorities the following day.
Responding police investigators recovered seven 5.56mm cartridge cases at the crime scene. A follow-up investigation is ongoing to establish the motive behind the killing and identify the five suspects, who fled after the shooting incident, the police said. | TMD
