The Department of Health Region 6 classified Bacolod City under risk classification alert level 1 following a decline in COVID-19 cases over the past weeks.
Out of the eight local government units in Western Visayas, Bacolod was classified to have the lowest risk classification due to the sharp decrease in coronavirus infections.
Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo Province, and Negros Occidental were classified under Alert Level 2, while Iloilo City remained under Alert Level 3, tyeh DOH 6 said.
The risk classification analysis was based on all new cases reported and verified by LGUs, a press release from the city said Feb. 21.
Meanwhile, the Average Daily Attack Rate (ADAR) in Bacolod shifted from a high of 66.19 to 3.64.
Data also showed the huge difference in COVID cases between Jan. 21 to Feb. 3, and Feb. 4 to 17.
The average cases for Jan. 21 to Feb. 3 were recorded at 1,605, and a staggering decrease to 301 from Feb. 4 to 17, the city said.
This showed a case difference of 81 percent, or 1,304 cases between dates, it added.
The healthcare capacity utilization rate of the City also dropped to a low of 18.29 percent, resulting from a low admission rate of severe COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, jungle animals came alive at Robinsons Place Bacolod as the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force launched a safari-themed vaccination site for minors five to 11 years old Feb. 21.
“When you look at these children, they may be small and cute, but they are also fearless. They will be the ones who will make our vaccination program complete,” said Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who visited the site together with EOC-TF executive director Em Ang and deputy director, Dr. Chris Sorongon.
The mayor thanked the parents for trusting the team in the inoculation of their kids, and the mall management for giving the program a “festive mood.”
Robinsons Operations director for Visayas-Mindanao Joseph Sian and City Health Office OIC Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr. were also present at the event.
The Ayala Malls Capitol Central and the SMX also launched their pediatric vaccination earlier today, Feb. 21. — NND
