SM City Bacolod and the Bureau of Fire Protection recently joined forces for fire safety and emergency response initiatives that would benefit property, patrons, and the communities served by the mall.

Through the KAISA manifesto, both organizations are committed to promoting amongst its tenants, customers, and employees the importance of disaster preparedness and fire safety practices.

“SM has long been a champion of fire safety awareness programs and initiatives,” May Castro, public relations manager, said in a press release. “As a stakeholder in the community, the safety of our customers, tenants, and property is important to our organization. The BFP has our full support in all its fire safety awareness efforts,” she added.

To seal the support for these initiatives, mall manager George Jardiolin and BFP representative Harold Oquindo signed the KAISA manifesto and posted the seal for the information of mallgoers.

With the BFP-SM partnership, internal and external programs for fire safety will be intensified, including but not limited to, training, drills, information and educational campaigns, community programs for sectors that the mall supports, and other emergency response campaigns.

“By raising the awareness of our tenants, mallgoers, and even online visitors, we contribute to the nation-building efforts of ensuring safety in public and private spaces,” Castro said.

At the national level, SM Supermalls is the first KAISA partner of the BFP, and the manifesto was signed by SM president Steven Tan at the BFP national headquarters early this year. | NND
