Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia issued on Sunday, Feb. 28, Executive Order No. 11, series of 2021 extending the modified general community quarantine in the city from March 1 to March 31.

He issued the directive the day after Presidential Spokesperson Harry announced that Bacolod will be among the local government units under the category of MGCQ for the month of March.

“The City Government of Bacolod has always been in faithful compliance with the national policy in regard to the COVID-19 public health emergency, acting consistently with the instructions and manner of observing public order, especially in safeguarding the health and welfare of its constituents,” Leonardia said.

As of Feb. 28, Bacolod has two new cases, one new recovery, and zero new death. Of the city’s 5,827 confirmed cases, only 66 are active.

Meanwhile, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson also extended the duration of MGCQ in Negros Occidental from March 1 to 31.

In an Executive Order No. 21-14, series of 2021 issued Feb. 26,   Lacson noted that Negros Occidental has 6,811 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Feb. 24.
