Fifty families who lost their homes to Typhoon Tino received new houses at the relocation site in Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla on Oct. 16, giving the beneficiaries a fresh start after their houses were destroyed by the typhoon in November 2025.
The housing project is an initiative of AmCham Foundation Philippines Inc. in partnership with Quidan Kaisahan Negros Occidental Inc. and the municipal government of Moises Padilla.
Of the 50 beneficiary families, 43 are from Barangay Quintin Remo and seven are from Barangay Inolingan.
Each family was given a certificate of ownership during the turnover ceremony.
AmCham vice president Josephine Gonzales led the turnover with members of the Municipal Council, who represented Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo and Vice Mayor Felix Mathias Segundo Yulo III.
The project reflects the cooperation of the private sector, civil society and local government in providing long-term assistance to families affected by disasters.
The municipal government also provided bathrooms at the relocation site as additional support to help ensure more suitable living conditions for the beneficiaries.
The AmCham Foundation received a plaque of appreciation from the municipal government in recognition of its contribution to the recovery of disaster-affected residents. | GPB
