A 20-year-old senior high school student was stabbed to death inside a game fowl farm in Purok New Site, Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, Oct. 22.

The Murcia Municipal Police Station identified the victim as Jefferson Alcantara, who worked as game farm caretaker.

Initial police investigation said that, at around 12:50 a.m., Alcantara and his 18-year-old companion, alias “Silver”, were sleeping in a nipa hut when four to five unidentified men forced their way inside.

One of the intruders struck “Silver” in the head with a hard object, rendering him unconscious, the Murcia police reported.

When he regained consciousness, he found Alcantara lying near the front door with a knife still embedded in the chest.

“Silver” sought assistance from nearby residents, and Alcantara was rushed to the Murcia Health Center but was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician.

Murcia acting chief of police, P/Capt. Honey Labaro, said they have not yet confirmed the details regarding the alleged theft of fighting cocks, as of press time, as the farm owner was still conducting inventory.

Alcantara was a Grade 12 student at Minoyan High School, and the school principal described him as a “well-behaved student, who never caused trouble.” | TMD
