Despite a temporary halt in construction due to funding constraints, contractor Dynamic Builders and Construction Co. has reaffirmed its commitment to complete the new Negros Occidental Provincial Administration Center (PAC) by December this year.
This was confirmed by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Tuesday, Aug. 18, noting that while the project recently slowed down, the contractor has not abandoned the work on the nearly P1-billion provincial facility.
“We were assured by the contractor that they are committed to finish the building. If they say they will finish it, they will finish it”, the governor said, adding that the contractor gave a date to finish the project by December.
“What is important, the commitment is there,” he added.
The construction of the landmark project began in 2024 and was originally slated for completion in March 2026.
However, work recently ground to a halt after the contractor experienced financial difficulties and budget exhaustion, Lacson said.
Regarding potential penalties for the project delay, he said the provincial government will enforce the full terms of the contract once the project reaches completion and final payments are processed.
Additionally, Lacson said they are awaiting confirmation from Dynamic Builders regarding their plans for an adjacent property, which the contractor holds a five-year window to begin developing. | GPB
