Octogenarian dies in Dumaguete fire

An 83-year-old resident died in a fire that destroyed a house in Habitat 1, Barangay Balugo, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Monday night, Aug. 10.

The Dumaguete City Fire Station said the victim sustained severe fourth-degree burns covering the entire body, and was the sole casualty of the tragic incident.

The one-storey residential structure was destroyed, affecting a family of two and resulting in an estimated P165,000 in property damage, the BFP said.

The fire suppression operation was carried out through coordinated efforts with the Metro Dumaguete City Water, Fil-Chinese Volunteers, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the BFP-Dumaguete added. | TMD
