In a strong affirmation of operational excellence and commitment to transparency, the Department of Energy (DOE) awarded plaques of appreciation to MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) and Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) for their timely and full compliance with critical reportorial requirements.
The recognition highlights both utilities’ adherence to DOE Department Circular No. 2023-03-0005, which provides supplemental policies for the systematic management of reportorial requirements in the electric power industry.
This ensures accurate and reliable data submission among distribution utilities for the year 2025 an essential component in strengthening the country’s energy governance.
The plaques, signed by Energy Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevarra, were formally presented at the Energy Center in Bonifacio Global City.
This recognition underscores the vital role of compliance in today’s evolving energy landscape.
With increasing power demand driven by rapid industrialization, renewable energy integration, and climate-related challenges, accurate and timely reporting enables better grid monitoring, helps prevent outages, and supports informed policy reforms.
MORE Power continues to serve Iloilo City and nearby areas, while Negros Power operates as the sole electric distribution utility in central Negros.
Their commitment to compliance contributes significantly to the DOE’s vision of a data-driven and resilient Visayas grid especially crucial in the aftermath of El Niño and amid ongoing electrification efforts.
“Full compliance equips the DOE with important insights that may contribute to accelerating projects like grid modernization and the rollout of renewable energy,” Roel Castro, president and chief executive officer of both MORE Power and Negros Power said.
He further emphasized that timely reporting helps streamline DOE approvals, minimize delays, and support the advancement of national electrification goals.
As the Philippines aims to achieve full household electrification by 2028 under the DOE’s national program, the exemplary compliance demonstrated by MORE Power and Negros Power sets a benchmark for reliability, accountability, and excellence within the energy sector. ||
